THE RESTANZA by Marco Valente

Inspired by Professor Vito Teti's words on the theme of " Restanza" in 2023 I develop the photographic project of the same name.

Biographical cue is the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake, the disastrous event that acted as a watershed between those who wanted to stay and those who wanted to leave their their own land.
Thus is born an intimate portrait from the gaze of a man, my father, who gives us back his memories and at the same time preserves the memory of his roots in the loneliness and abandonment of the places where he was born and lived.

"Staying, then, is not a slogan or a proclamation.
One can affirm a utopia of small things that requires patience and care, circumspection and tenacity, attention and openness, a sense of responsibility and discourses of truth that do not admit illusions."
