I wanted to capture the beauty of Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It's a day filled with creative and cultured inspired designs and makeup. My photograph represents the Catrina Mariposa Monarca. The lovely aesthetics of a monarch butterfly which is so perfect for creating a catrina(celebatory creature of the dead). The fact a butterfly symbolically has a rebirth after being a caterpillar and then finally flies away toward it's spiritual destination. Dia de Los Muertos is a rich in tradition, cultured, beautiful and festive day celebrating life and death of all who have flown away like the butterfly.
