I have always loved the black and white film movies of women of intrigue, danger or seduction. The Femme Noire, Femme Fatale or the beautiful seductress brings drama, excitement and beauty to a film or in my case a photo. I feel black and white in film or a black and white portrait can capture the raw essence of the subject or beauty and the contrast of the brilliant whites, the exciting blacks and interesting grays bring the drama. The shadows and highlights help to tell the story and of course a beautiful subject with great direction to bring out whatever feelings or intention makes for a captivating portrait.
