From the end of last year to the beginning of this year, I headed to Izu Oshima.
I took a ferry to the largest island in the Izu Islands, located 120km south of Tokyo.
During the few days I spent there, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, I witnessed the beauty and threat of nature.
Even though the amount of people, things, information, and energy are clearly smaller than in the city, I found happiness that I didn't feel in the city.
There, I realized that there is still time to confront nature, time to circulate.
When I returned to Tokyo on January 1, 2024, the sea was rough.
That day, on my way back to Tokyo, I saw a breaking news report about a huge earthquake that had occurred on the other side of the ocean.
We must not forget that we are part of nature.
