This photo series captures an object that resembles a cup. When viewing the first two photos, we may initially question whether it is indeed a cup. However, from the third and fourth photos, we can quickly determine that it is a cup, as it exhibits the typical characteristics of a cup according to the standard definition. After seeing the last three photos, we may once again question whether it truly is a cup, as it presents further peculiar features not typically associated with a conventional cup. I wanted to use this set of photos to illustrate a default scenario when we look at pictures, which is that even with limited clues, we automatically assume that unknown factors conform to our imagination. This mode of thinking often leads us to make baseless and erroneous judgments, yet we have become accustomed to it. On the other hand, we can also recognize that even when using multiple photos to depict an object, achieving a clear and accurate expression is not an easy task, something that many people easily overlook.
