Mention honorable dans la catégorie « Documentaire »
“The footage in this film has not been sped up in any way,” is how David LaChapelle opens his documentary Rize about Krumping, the dance with intense, fast-paced, and sharp moves. The support within the group is as intense as the moves - supportive screams and yelling are a non-stop. Evolving into a street dance, Krumping derived from Clowning, another dance style with a similar intensity. One of the Krumpers in the documentary says, ''Everyone mourns differently'' - that's because historically, Krumping helped express feelings of the oppressed in a non-violent way. I found London's Krump scene also far from the commercialised Hip Hop, and welcoming to anyone, with any body shape, age, gender, and orientation. Everyone expresses themselves differently and Krumpers certainly know how to do it.
